About Us

We go beyond

GRS has grown to become a major independent supply chain partner offering material solutions to the construction industry. Our enduring success is built on people, relationships and our drive to ‘go beyond’ to offer a great customer experience.

Throughout our history, our unique ‘trading’ model has engendered autonomy and entrepreneurship. This means that we continually pioneer new ways of working to deliver solutions that have become accepted as best practice across the bulk materials supply chain.

What we do

From high-volume aggregates for major infrastructure to the widest range of decorative landscaping products available anywhere, today GRS handles around 20 million tonnes of materials every year.

Besides construction materials and building products, our growth and diversification means we provide building and contracting services, waste management and end-to-end bulk freight solutions via road, rail and water.

Crucially, our long-established independence means we’re as much a trusted adviser as we are a trusted supplier, helping clients and contractors take smarter decisions that make a material difference and deliver value.

History

A story of sustained growth

The rapid expansion of GRS has been through organic growth, smart acquisitions and joint ventures with businesses offering complementary products, services and solutions. That’s why GRS is recognised as one of the fastest growing businesses of its kind, featuring in league tables such as The Sunday Times Top Track 250.

Our impressive growth has gone hand-in-hand with increased diversity and depth of expertise, along with groundbreaking outcomes in areas such as health, wellbeing and sustainability for which we are proud to have won a number of industry awards.

Governance

GRS operates a two-tier governance structure, with a distinction between the Group Board of Directors and the Executive Management Team. Whilst some directors are members of both, this arrangement fosters structured, responsible decision-making, with checks and balances that enable enhanced oversight and clear accountability.

The Group Board focuses on strategy, long-term planning, business stability and sustainability, while the Exec Team manages daily operations and is accountable for budgeting and business performance, as well as safety, health, wellbeing and sustainable development.
